Privacy

What we store

• Your account: email, a name if you give one, and your password (stored only in hashed form).
• Without an account: the courses you add or like, kept under a random id in your browser's cookie, and the email you give to be told when a course is ready. When you sign up or log in, these move to your account.
• Your studying: the courses you add and their exam dates, your answers, mock exam results, flashcard progress, mistakes, saved questions, check-ins and daily goal.
• The courses you ask for or like, and the lecturer email you give when you add a course.
• Reports and feedback you send, and your language and look settings.
• The emails we send you (the evening reminder if you turned it on, and "your course is ready" if you asked for it).

Who sees what

• Lecturers see only anonymous statistics per topic, and only once at least 5 students have practised. They never see an individual student's results.
• Other students: the leaderboard shows the first letter of your name (or email), how many questions you answered this week, and your share of right answers. You can turn it off in your settings. Figures such as "how many students get this right" are shown only as totals.
• We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.

Cookies

One session cookie keeps you signed in (without an account, it remembers what you liked) and one remembers your language. No ads, no analytics tools, no tracking pixels.

How long

We keep your data while you have an account. Ask us to delete your account and we delete it together with your study data.

What we store

• Your name and work email: from the university's public staff pages, given by you, or given by students who ask for your course.
• The courses you are linked to, the files you upload, and when you accepted the terms.
• The emails we have sent you, and whether you have opened your personal link.

Why

To contact you about Kaobee (including how many students have asked for your course) and to let you manage the material you share. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Service providers

The site and database are hosted by Railway (Singapore), files are stored with Cloudflare, email is sent through Resend, and papers and course material are read by AI from OpenAI (or Anthropic). Students' answers are not sent to the AI.

We do not store your IP address. To stop spam votes and requests, the server keeps it in memory for at most a day, never in our database.
