Who we are
Kaobee is run by Aprende AS, a Norwegian company, and is in beta. Kaobee is not run by Tsinghua University and does not speak for the university or any of its departments. Part 1 of these terms is for students, part 2 for lecturers who share material.
Part 1 · Students
Your account
Adding and liking courses needs no account. To practise, sign up with your email, one account per person. Keep your password to yourself and don't share your account. Kaobee is free while it is in beta, and we never ask for payment details.
The practice material
- Questions come from past exams shared by lecturers, and from AI that writes practice questions from the course material. AI-written questions are marked "AI-generated".
- Answers and explanations can contain mistakes. If you find one, use "Report a problem" and we will check it.
- Kaobee is a study aid, not official course material. Your lecturer and the university decide what is on the exam and how it is marked. We don't promise any exam result.
Fair use
- The questions are for your own study. Don't copy, scrape or resell the question banks.
- Follow your university's rules on academic integrity. Don't use Kaobee during an exam where it is not allowed.
Asking for a course
When you add a course, you give the lecturer's Tsinghua staff email. Only give the address of the course's actual lecturer. We use it only to invite the lecturer to share past exams and the syllabus: when enough students have asked, at most once a week, and every email has an unsubscribe link. We never publish the address or tell the lecturer who asked.
Leaderboard
The leaderboard shows only the first letter of your name (or email). You can turn it off in your settings at any time.
Changes and leaving
While Kaobee is in beta we may change or stop features. You can stop using Kaobee at any time and ask us to delete your account at post@aprendeas.no.
Part 2 · Lecturers
What you share
Past exam papers, marking guides, syllabi and other course material that you upload through your personal link.
What you confirm
You have the right to share the material and to allow the use described here, for example because you wrote it or your department allows it. Please don't upload material you have no right to share, or material with personal data about students (names, student numbers, grades).
What we do with it
- We store the files privately, for your course only.
- We use AI to draft practice questions, answers, explanations and topics from the papers. Exam questions are copied as they appear on the paper.
- Syllabi and course material may be used to create more practice questions and flashcards.
Your review
When the questions for your course are ready, you have three days to review them. In your workspace you can edit or delete any question, one at a time. If you need more time, you can postpone publication by one week at a time. Questions you have not deleted by then are published. You can still edit or delete a question after it is published.
Where it appears
Published questions are available on Kaobee as practice material for your course, for users with a Kaobee account. Students see which paper a question came from. Your name is not shown.
Statistics
You see anonymous statistics per topic. We never show you the results of individual students.
Copyright
You keep the copyright. You give Aprende AS a non-exclusive, free licence to store, adapt and publish the material on Kaobee as described here. Sharing is voluntary and unpaid.
